10 weeks ago I tore my bicep. Luckily I didn’t tear it more than halfway so there was no need for surgery. Phew right ? Nobody ever wants to go under the knife. If you follow @Katotrainmeplease then you know how important fitness, health and working out is to me. More specifically you know my style of training. High repetition intense calisthenics, weight training, mobility, functionality, endurance, yoga, etc…
As soon as it happened I immediately thought to myself, “I can do legs, core, endurance, breathing, reading and even sleeping exercises.” I was also on the waiting list with Every Mother Counts - a non profit that I love - to run the TCS New York City Marathon. On August 31st 2022. I received the message I knew in my heart was coming. The email subject line read “Congratulations!”, so I knew before I read it, I was in!
So it's official. I am running the TCS New York City Marathon on November 6, 2022 on behalf of Every Mother Counts to help make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere. I am making a commitment to raise funds and awareness for maternal health because I care about every mother out there and my family as well. My sister had a stillborn, my Aunt has had multiple miscarriages and my friends have experienced some of the same tragedies. This is my opportunity to do something about it.
Every Mother Counts is astounding, focusing on on underserved and/or marginalized communities. Training and employing lower-level, community-based health workers. All the while building embedded or community-led organizations with less than $1M annual operating budget.
My goal is to raise $3,500 - though I know we can destroy that number! Please help me reach my goal by making a contribution of $10 per mile. It is a 26 mile run x 10, totaling $260. Donations are deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Remember, no donation is too small!
How can you donate:
